[Chris] I have made contact with the Cutwater agency in an attempt to verify this latest lead. Wish us all luck!

[anonymous] Thank you so much for posting the link to the song i haven't STOPPED playing yet.

[Wes*] Wow...I see and hear this add, do a Google for more info and discover that I'm not alone in my enjoyment of this tune. My 91 year old mother told me she loves the voice singing here but couldn't recall what the TV commercial was promoting. Failing eyes but sound hearing and joy from a Jeep commercial and it's mystery vocalist. Life is still good!

archive
[Cam] I think it sounds a bit like a young Mickey Rooney. Funny how everyone thinks it sounds like a singer from an earlier era.

Please don't post links to copies of the mp3. The vocalist may be unknown at this point but the copyright holder is Bruton/Cacavas/David so we don't want to get into trouble with them. You should be able to listen to the full song in the APM Music link up above.

[Kat] My mother and I have spent the morning together long-distance (phone) trying to find out about this song. I'd love to find it too. Wow, the marketing company knew what they were doing for Jeep! Sounds like there is a full "team" on a fact-finding mission. Thanks for all the effort....:)

[Liz] His voice is the most beautiful, ever! After I listen to the 10:00pm Jeep commercial, hear THEE voice, it's
hard to relax the rest of the evening. I'm going to spend next week in the local records department playing male voice's until I've found the one, so I can
purchase some CD's with his voice. All I have now is the recorded commercial voice.

archive
[MamaDragon] It's been a couple of days since anyone posted about the vocalist. The music is lovely and I'm truly hoping that someone has the right connections to find out who he is. Is anyone still working on this mystery?

archive
[Ada] I, too, am hoping that someone (hello, Jeep!) will release this information and the Christmas CD. We'll PAY! We'll PURCHASE! Is anyone listening???

archive
[Meridith Reid] My 81 year old mother has put me onto the search for this guy. No leads yet. I hope we can find out before she passes away. C'mon, Jeep. Why the suspense?

archive
[Anonymous] I am so relieved to finally find the commercial again and to know so many others are interested in this guy with the beautiful voice. My husband and I are both impressed with the quality of his voice and would love to hear more.

archive
[anonymous] I can't stop hearing this voice and the tune in my head. Yes, let's found out who this singer is. I'd be the first to present him in concert here in NY.

archive
[Gretchen] We seem to have the same reaction to this song - we love THE voice and we hear the song over and over in our heads. Surely someone reading this has the power to make the CD available and to unveil the person who is gifted with that marvelous voice.

archive
[Anonymous] In searching for the rest of the lyrics to this song I've found two different versions, with two different composers. Splendad should reveal the true identity of the artist to put an end to these forgeries.

archive
[Ada] It's hard to believe in this day of technology that no one can find the answers to this lovely voice and that those who know the answers are not willing to share them. Sigh.

archive
[MamaDragon] I keep checking back here in the hope that someone has been able to find the name of the vocalist. Would the agency that produced the ad have this information? Perhaps splendAd would be able to contact Jeep and find this out?

archive
[Anonymous] Who sings this song?? Does anyone know? Who would u contact to find out?? I love his voice!!

archive
[anonymous] It's February 27 and the mystery is still unsolved. Of course, Jeep is playing a different commercial now, and it's not nearly as soothing or enjoyable as Winter Warm was. The voice and the melody are in my head forever! I love them both! And would love to know WHO the vocalist is. I hope he is paid well!

[fanman54] The singer is Hal David -- according to Chrysler.

archive
[Chris] Well, I say "Chrysler" is wrong. Hal David is 86 years old, and unless he recorded Winter Warm in the 1940's, it isn't him. The arrangement is much more modern and the voice very young.

archive
[Lorraine Fullerton] Well it is now Leap Year and I have patiently waited to find out the singers name and still no one has divulged it. the singer must now be dead or he would have encouraged leting all of us folks know who he is so he can make a CD for all of us, who love his voice so VERY much! How sad that he has not come on here himself, if he is still with us, to see & hear how much he is enjoyed. A real shame.

archive
[J.D.] IT SOUNDS LIKE HELMUT LOTTI TO ME.

archive
[Gretchen] I don't know who it is, but definitely not Helmut Lotti.

archive
[Chris] I agree - definitely not Lotti. I'm sure that whoever it is, he is an unknown, probably a session or backup singer in the music industry. Has anyone listed to all of the other tracks on that Bruton album to see if he is singing anything else?

archive
[Darlene] I contacted the Jeep website and they said it is someone who is a session singer and they did not know the name of that person

archive
[anonymous] I can believe that an unknown session singer is correct. As somebody who works in the performing arts (as an administrator) I can say there is a huge pool of talented singers, just as good as the most-established superstars, who remain as unknowns. It's sad, but ture.

archive
[Gretchen] I don't doubt that for a minute. But why can't someone tell us who the person is behind that smooth voice?

[Jeff Hooper] Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for your very kind comments.
I stumbled across this ad by accident and knew nothing about it.
My name is Jeff Hooper, and I am the vocalist on the Jeep commercial. I recorded the song "Winter Warm" a few years ago in London for a Hal David/John Cacavas recording session. Sadly the music is not available (as far as I'm aware)to purchase. If you would like to contact me I would be delighted to hear from you.
My email is:- jeff.hooper1@btopenworld.com

Thank you once again
Jeff

[Derek Lawton] Hi everyone - we've just seen this post - I'm a trumpet player in Jeff Hooper's Swing Easy Big Band - and this is DEFINITLEY JEFF HOOPER - you can see him and hear the band at http://www.jeffhooper.co.uk - I'm sure he'll be on here himself soon!
Cheers

[Chris] Most Curious. Most Curious Indeed. I emailed info@jeffhooper.co.uk on 29 Jan 2008 and received an email reply from that same address on 30 Jan 2008, stating that Jeff Hooper was not the artist in question. My query included a link to this board, so I don't understand how one could say he "knew nothing about it".

Could it be that someone is looking for free advertising for their swing band? What other explanation do you have, Mr. Hooper, for the discrepancy in your responses?

[Jeff Hooper] Hi Chris,
The song "Winter Warm" has another title "The time for love" which was used on the Osbournes TV show as well as the Jessica Simpson programme. I recorded both versions for a Cacavas/David recording sessions. Same orchestration but different lyrics. I had honestly forgotten about the Winter Warm lyrics. You can now here the song on my website by clicking on the "Listen " link, then to "listen to full tracks."
With regards to my emailing you on 30th Jan stating it was not me, I can only confirm that I'd forgotten about the new lyrics and title - it was recorded several years ago and the email would have come through my website management as I was working in the Caribbean on a ship on that day.
I have 6 copies the CD sent to me from Bruton Music in London who published the material, maybe they'll put it on the market one day!
I hope this satisfies your curiosity Chris!
Go to the John Cacavas website and you will find an email address for his wife Bonnie - I emailed her last night, she will confirm it's me.
Best wishes
Jeff

[Gretchen] It appears that Jeff Hooper is legit. The jeep ad is on his website While his voice is nice, I still have trouble connecting that voice with the Winter Warm ad. That recording session must have been some years ago when his voice was in a bit higher range. I'm trying to be convinced.

archive
[Chris] I am having the same problem as you, Gretchen. I've listed to every snippet of music on Jeff's web site and on his myspace page (including the live concert video footage) and I just don't hear the same "Winter Warm" voice on any other songs! I'd like to hear something else recorded by Jeff in the same key as Winter Warm, as I suspect that he's now singing in a lower key, which makes all the difference in the world.

archive
[Jeff Hooper] Hi Chris/Gretchen,
Please please ring me on 01633 412297 and I'll sing it to you!!! x How else can I convince you?

archive
[Paul & Viki Thompson] Hi everyone we have known Jeff for many years and this ad shows the versatility of his voice. WE CAN CONFIRM THAT THIS IS JEFF SINGING "WINTER WARM" and we are delighted that he is getting international recognition.

archive
[Vic Damone] Hello Jeff,
Actually, this is Gretchen. But I'm using the singer's name to demonstrate that anyone can type in the name "Jeff Hooper". Therefore, I won't be making an intercontinental phone call any time soon. Hard telling where that phone number will ring.

If indeed you, Jeff Hooper, are THE voice of the Winter Warm Jeep ad, I want you to know that it's the most beautiful vocal I have ever heard. Vic Damone's voice has always been my favorite, but the voice in the Winter Warm ad stole that place. It's also one of the most melodic tunes with the most romantic lyrics ever. You know from reading the comments that many people have fallen in love with this song and the singer.

If you do indeed know Bonnie Cacavas, maybe you can communicate to her that the publishers need to get this Christmas album out there so we can buy it.

I'm taking you at your word, and therefore telling you "well done!" That recording is vocal perfection.

Gretchen

[Jeff Hooper] Hi Gretchen/Vic Damone
I have just received a phone call from John Cacavas inviting me to sing and record more David/Cacavas songs in September. Thank you again for your very kind comments.

[Paula Hooper] To everyone who has written in response the Jeep Commercial - I am Jeff Hooper's daughter and can confirm that it is my dad's voice singing on the commercial. I'm sure if you look at his website your doubts will be put to rest. My dad is a FANTASTIC vocalist and I am so proud and pleased that they used his voice on the Jeep commercial. He has worked extremely hard for many years as a successful big band and jazz artist and has even sang for Princess Diana - as his daughter, it saddens me that some people have disputed his talent and have even suggested he is falsely using someone elses name. I hope you all have enjoyed listening to his voice and will look into purchasing a CD from his GENUINE website! Many Thanks Paula Hooperxxxx

archive
[Gretchen] Hi Paula,

Thank you for writing. I can read/hear your pride in your father's voice. I have listened to his vocals on his website. His voice is very nice indeed. It was just hard to reconcile his voice with the Winter Warm commercial. Perhaps he was asked to sing that ad in a certain style that isn't usual for him. They just don't sound the same. Also, earlier in this site his participation in the ad was denied. So I hope you understand our doubts.

I stick by my statement that the voice in the Winter Warm ad is the most beautiful I have ever heard - ever! I hope someone in a position to do so will give Bruton a heads-up that people want to purchase that Christmas song collection. I would buy it in a New York minute if it became available to the general public. Please let us know if it ever does!

Perhaps Paula or Jeff will clarify for us which year "Jeff came second in the Star Search USA show in Hollywood".

I'd like to review his performances via tapes of those shows. Thank you.

Jeff 2
Hi Chris,
I was runner up on "Starsearch" in 1987, my stage name at that time was Jeff Ryder, the song was a Gino Vannelli hit "It hurts to be in love."
I have just completed another recording session in London with Hal David and John Cacavas, the president of APM music Adam Taylor was also there.
If the Jeep ad is on again this winter will you please let me know.
Regards
Jeff Hooper

Gary, I hope all your questions were answered. You can listen to the entire Winter Warm song by Jeff by going to myspace.com and type in Jeff Hooper In My Dreams. You can listen to the entire album. I was also able to purchase A Swingin Affair from CDbaby.com. Good luck!

Chris 2 In reply to: Carol
Carol, aren't you curious in the least as to why the voice on A Swingin' Affair sounds NOTHING at all like the voice on Winter Warm?

splendAd Admin keith 526 In reply to: Jeff
Updated the page to credit Jeff Hooper based on his claim to be the vocalist.

Jazmin10 1 In reply to: keith
Thanks Keith! Now if we could just get Jeff Hooper to put out a CD using the same key that he used on the Jeep Commercial's Winter Warm. We want the same sweet, warm sounding voice that you gaves us in this commercial. Of course Jeff, you need to include 'Winter Warm' on the CD. And please give us a real CD, I am sick of downloads. Real CD sound is much more superior. I will be waiting.
