[Clint] Where was this ad filmed? It looks a lot like southern Argentina to me, say Chubut or Santa Cruz province. Anybody know?

Clint, not sure exactly where it was filmed, but the GE site (http://www.ge.com/en/company/companyinfo/advertising/eco_ads.htm) says it's set in Patagonia, so you're correct that it's southern Argentina.

[Marcie] I've spent hours looking for this song - I thought it was by Bob Dylan. My daughter suggested googling it - and it came right up! Great info, and it puts my mind to rest. Thanks!!

[Tim K] It's been killing me, too. I also thought Dylan immediately. Thanks for clearing it up!

[Jad] Much of Donovan's early material is similar to Bob Dylan. If you like this song you might like "Universal Soldier". Donovan was originally considered to be the "Dylan" of the UK before he went into his "Flower Power" phase.

[Jen] ...ha...and I thought it was David Gray! Took me awhile to find this site, as I was google-ing him.

[Ang] i immediately thought of Chile when i saw this commercial

[Mark] When I was a small child I lived with my grandfather-an old coal miner retired with black lung. He got to where he couldn't hardly get a breath, and what he got was hard won and hurt. I can't watch this little film without crying like a baby. I don't know who made it or why but it describes like a surveyed map the deepest craters in my heart. Thanks. I haven't been able to cry since I was that boy's size.

[harry] is the grandfather john cleese?

[Robin] I think this is Chile. Probably southern region, Aysen. Maybe near Puerto Cisnes.

[dave] does anyone know what kind of bike that was

[chris] I have listened to all the previous recordings of Donovan's version of the song and the pitch and tone are not correct, too monotone. I still think it is David Gray doing a cover of the song for the commercial because of the guitar work and higher pitch in vocal tone, can anyone verify

[anonymous] "the pitch and tone are not correct, too monotone"
That's what I thought, too.

I love this comment.hanks so much for sharing Mark! This ad always makes me cry. My father built the first solar home in our county in WI and loved the idea of wind energy. Up until his death at age 89, he worked for alternative energy and peace. The way the grandfather hugs the child in this ad is how he embraced his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren every time we spent time together, it makes me cry every single time I see it.
