Diet Mountain Dew - Yo Yos

Category: commercial

Summary: People are shown using yo yos as weapons.

Description

In situations that look like the people would normally be holding guns, they're instead holding yo yos. In the long version of the ad, it starts off with a pair of bank robbers "shooting" it out with the authorities as they try to get in their getaway car.

The next scene is in black & white, where a man in a suit with his entourage and media surrounding him. Suddenly a hit man / assassin strikes him with a yo yo.

Then on a television political talk show, pundits debate whether yo yos should be outlawed. As they're arguing, people are shown doing target practice with yo yos.

A man at an ATM gets robbed by a yo yo-wielding thief. "Baby, he's got a yo yo," says his wife. "Did he hit you?"

"This is the golden butterball. 28 inch string. Silk. Real smooth action," says a guy doing an arms deals. This is an homage to a scene in the film "Taxi Driver" in which Robert De Niro's character buys guns in a hotel room.

In another homage, this time to The Godfather, a man strikes two men dining in a small restaurant.

Then at a convenience store, a man holds up the cashier, but she fights back with a yo yo of her own, yelling "No dinero!"

FACT: YO YOs WERE INVENTED AS A WEAPON

[drew] lol!!! yes most people dont get the Godfather one. But i believe the video in black and white is supposed to be a "yo-yo" version of the killing of Lee Harvey Oswald by Jack Ruby.
