Here are some of our top picks for 2009.
A series of ads for the Verizon Wireless Hub aired around April 2009, and by the end of the year, Verizon stopped selling the Hub. The failed product notwithstanding, the campaign had an effective backdrop of music. "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz subtlety sets an easy-going mood.
This ad isn't subtle at all with its inclusion of "Bourgeois Shangri-La" by Miss Li. The colorful iPods with video feature. The people dancing. It all screams "Look at me." And the music keeps it bouncing.
A series of people giving Hallmark cards to show encouragement and appreciation is complemented nicely by John Mayer's "Say".
7. Pepsi - Pass
An anthem of a song like The Who's "My Generation" would add enthusiasm to any commercial, but it's even more fitting for Pepsi, which has used a "generation" theme is several of its slogans over the years.
The somber, yet strong, piano of "Auto Rock" by Mogwai gives Lance Armstrong's words more pronounced emphasis.
The i am jen remix of "Unbelievable" by Sleepy Rebels has an effervescent quality to it which accents the playful JCPenney commercial.
Cute song ("Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop" by Landon Pigg). And cute commercial.
"The Honey Tree" by The Mostar Diving Club starts the commercial off with "Just another perfect day", which is a great setup for the beach theme and clever effects.
A cappella has become popular this year, and Petra Haden's cover of "Let Your Love Flow" gives harmony to this Toyota campaign.
On the list is this funny and catchy jingle. Not sure how effective the ad was at selling their fish sandwiches, but the song got our attention.
