Chevrolet - Silverado - Man Step
Category: commercial
Summary: Howie Long belittles Ford's "man step".
Video:
Description
At the lumber yard a man secures a bird house in the back of his Ford F-150 with some tie down straps. When he is done he cautiously gets out of the bed of the truck with the help of the tailgate step and grab bar. He then proceeds to head to the cab of the truck until Howie says, "Hey buddy you left your little man step down." While the man embarrassingly flips down the grab bar, stows the step and closes the tailgate, the voiceover asks "Would you rather have a Ford F-150 with a man step or a Silverado that backs you for a 100,000 miles or 5 years?"

I had saw this commerical a few times and really just thought well Howy is just saying that guy was a sissy for not being able to just step up on the bumper and get in the back of his truck. But I recentely went to a family friends house that is a chevy man himself and he is also handicap. Then he brought this commerical up to me and he said that he liked Howy and all other Chevy commericals but this one just frankly ticked him off. Because to him and now that he put it in his terms I also think that he is making fun of not only the Ford truck with the so called man-step but he is making fun of the handicap.
I mean think about not only the handicap but of the older generation that are not as flexable as they were in their yound days. That step up would help them fill active again and let them fill independent again by not having to ask someone younger to get something out of the back of there truck.
I actually think that they helped advertise for Ford because alot of people will want to buy it over the step on the tail gate. So maybe Chevy should put a step on the back of there truck. Or I think that this particular commerical should be pulled off the air or the creator of the commerical should get in some sort of trouble or at least a warning to knock it off with the finger pointing of other truck makers.
