Description
NFL player Ephraim Salaam tells the story about how he discovered an unlikely football player.
In a grocery store, Ephraim would always see this big guy working there. One day he asked him if he ever played football. The supermarket employee replies, "I play the oboe."
"What?"
"It's a member of the woodwind family."
"You should play football."
Ephraim convinces him to try out for the college team (San Diego State University) and he makes the team as a walk-on. Then he ends up starting. Then he's a 2nd round draft pick in the NFL. Ephraim himself was only a 7th round pick.
The story is about Chester Pitts, starting left guard for the Houston Texans, who went from bagging groceries to playing football. He still plays the oboe.
